Job Title: Senior Accountant - Multi-Entity Operations
Location: Chattanooga, TN, Onsite Schedule
Salary: $68,000 - $76,111
Skills: 2 Years in Accounting - Multi-Entity Operations, Intercompany Accounting, Month-End Close, Multi-Entity Accounting, AP/AR, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, ERP Systems, GAAP, Post-Acquisition Integration, Microsoft Excel
About the Opportunity:
A privately held, multi-location consumer goods and distribution company is growing fast and needs a strong accounting professional to grow with them. They operate across multiple locations through a network of independently run business units, and the finance team is in active build mode - adding structure, standardizing processes, and integrating new locations as the company expands its footprint.
This is a role for someone who is comfortable owning their work without a lot of hand-holding. You will carry accounting responsibility across several business units at once, keep the numbers clean across entities, and be a real resource for locations that are still finding their financial footing. The company is stable, the growth is real, and the person who steps into this seat will have a direct impact on how the finance function takes shape.
Responsibilities:
• Own the accounting activity across a portfolio of business unit locations - posting transactions, clearing discrepancies, and keeping the books current and accurate on a daily basis
• Reconcile balances between related entities each month, track down variances, and work across teams to get everything tied out before close
• Handle the full month-end close cycle for assigned locations including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages
• Allocate shared costs across entities each period - payroll, operating expenses, commissions, and revenue - making sure everything lands in the right place
• Step in as the accounting lead when new locations come into the fold, helping them transition onto company systems, learn internal processes, and get up to speed quickly
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly across all assigned entities and keep documentation clean and audit-ready
• Support forecast and budget preparation by pulling accurate, timely data from your assigned locations
• Help write and refine accounting procedures that can be rolled out consistently across all locations
• Pull together documentation and support for audit requests as needed
Must-Have Skills:
1. 2 years of hands-on accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close - journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting included
2. Intercompany accounting experience - you have reconciled balances between related entities, prepared allocation and reclassification entries, and resolved variances with other accounting teams
3. Multi-entity or multi-location accounting background - you have managed the books for more than one business unit at a time and know how to keep everything organized and accurate across locations
4. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5. Solid GAAP foundation, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and current working knowledge of at least one ERP system
Nice-to-Have Skills:
1. Experience bringing a newly acquired or onboarded location into an existing financial structure - system transitions, chart of account mapping, or staff training
2. Background in consumer goods, CPG, manufacturing, or distribution environments where accounting supports field-based or independently operating locations
3. Exposure to building or improving accounting SOPs in a growing or decentralized organization
