Position Overview:
The Director of Finance is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions of the resort. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, drives operational performance through data-driven insights, and partners closely with the executive team to maximize profitability and efficiency. Beyond financial leadership, this individual plays a key role in fostering a culture that delivers exceptional guest and employee experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all accounting operations for the resort, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Oversee financial systems and technology vendors to ensure efficiency and accuracy
- Analyze financial performance, market trends, and operational data to identify risks and opportunities
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget; support department leaders with forecasting and cost-control strategies
- Prepare and present financial statements, cash flow projections, and variance analyses
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations (monthly preferred)
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns (sales, use, occupancy, etc.) and regulatory reporting
- Ensure compliance with management agreements, legal documents, and ownership requirements
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Partner with the General Manager and executive team to validate budgets and forecasts
- Oversee treasury, insurance, licensing, and statutory compliance requirements
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all financial reports
- Previous experience as a Director of Finance in a hotel or resort environment strongly preferred
- Background as an Assistant Controller or experience in public accounting (Senior/Manager level)
- Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
