Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - PRN to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will support licensed occupational therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to skilled nursing, and long- term care residents. Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility, ensuring safety and independence.
- Facilitate treatment plan execution by applying manual handling techniques and therapeutic exercises aligned with physiologic and anatomical principles.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and caregivers—to optimize patient outcomes.
- Document care activities accurately in medical records while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and medical terminology standards.
- Assist with patient transport within facilities or to external appointments, ensuring safe handling and communication throughout the process.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Prior experience working in acute care, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and implement treatment plans effectively
- Knowledge of medical imaging procedures, care documentation standards, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or disabilities requiring specialized interventions.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with clients and caregivers to promote understanding and cooperation.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while providing patient care in various settings.
- Familiarity with inpatient or outpatient therapy protocols, including pediatrics and occupational health environments.
Florida Background Screening Requirement:
This position requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Clearinghouse in accordance with Florida law. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background screening.
