Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant General Manager - Aquatics to oversee the operations of our Aquatics Department. This leadership role is responsible for managing staff, coordinating programs, and ensuring smooth operation of pool facilities. The AGM - Aquatics reports directly to the General Manager and will play a vital role in promoting aquatic programs, maintaining safety standards, and supporting community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pool operations, staff management, and aquatic programming.
- Manage scheduling, swim meets, events, and pool maintenance.
- Supervise 1-2 subordinate supervisors and a total staff of 40–50 employees.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and retain aquatic staff, coaches, and instructors.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local bathing codes, safety protocols, and equipment standards.
- Operate and maintain pool equipment, water chemistry, and timing systems (e.g., Colorado Timing System, Hytek).
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets, audits, and reports.
- Participate as part of the management team in community events, fundraising, and leadership duties.
- Maintain professional communication and appearance; work irregular shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Plan, assign, and direct work for supervisors and staff.
- Conduct performance appraisals, provide coaching, and address employee issues.
- Ensure team compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid/Oxygen Administration Certification (required).
- Certified Pool Operator (required).
- Water Safety Instructor, USA Swimming Coach, ASCA, or Lifeguard Instructor certifications preferred.
- Proficiency with swim meet management, Hytek, and Colorado Timing System Gen 7.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with member/guest registration and timekeeping software preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mathematical and reasoning skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly, more than 100 lbs occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and occasional high-risk environments.
