Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager – Aquatics (AGM-Aquatics) is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and performance of the Aquatics Department at Mylan Park. This position oversees daily pool operations, aquatic programming, staffing, event management, and facility maintenance. The AGM ensures safety, compliance, and operational excellence while fostering strong relationships with the community and driving usage of aquatic facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management
- Oversee all pool operations and ensure compliance with state and local health and safety codes.
- Manage water quality, pool filtration systems, and aquatic equipment to maintain optimal conditions.
- Schedule and coordinate all aquatic activities, practices, swim meets, and events.
- Supervise use and maintenance of the Colorado Timing System (CTS) and Hytek Meet Management Software for swim competitions.
Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Directly manage the Aquatics Director and aquatic staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Supervise 1–2 subordinate supervisors and a team of 40–50 employees including lifeguards, instructors, and coaches.
- Enforce policies and promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and safety.
Program & Event Development
- Develop, implement, and grow aquatic programs including swim lessons, group fitness, therapy, and community partnerships.
- Lead planning and execution of swim meets and aquatic events to maximize facility utilization and revenue.
- Ensure high-quality customer service and member satisfaction.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets, conduct weekly and monthly audits, and manage purchasing for aquatic operations.
- Track revenue, expenses, and performance metrics to support organizational goals.
- Support membership growth and retention through effective programming and community engagement.
Customer & Community Relations
- Serve as a visible ambassador for Mylan Park, building relationships with local swim clubs, schools, and community organizations.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and timely resolution.
- Represent the Aquatics Department at events, meetings, and community functions.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in aquatic facility or recreation management.
- Strong background in pool operations, staff leadership, and event coordination.
Certifications (Required)
- Current Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid/Oxygen Administration certification.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
Preferred Certifications
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
- USA Swimming Coach Certification / ASCA Certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Colorado Timing System (CTS Gen 7) and Hytek Meet Management Software.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with membership and registration software preferred.

- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and perform moderate physical activity.
Work Schedule
- Must be available for irregular shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Swim meets and events typically occur on Fridays through Sundays.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
