Staff Accountant

We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Palmyra, New York. This long-term contract position will support accounting operations for a manufacturing company, with a focus on general ledger management, cost accounting, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial analysis and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all accounting activities.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Lead month-end close processes, adhering to strict deadlines and delivering timely results.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations to validate financial data and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to management through clear reporting.
• Review and code expenses to the appropriate ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Collaborate with cost and general ledger accountants to streamline the close process and enhance efficiency.
• Assist in inventory variance analysis and support inventory-related processes, starting in October.
• Utilize Oracle systems to manage and track accounting data effectively.
• Support audits and compliance efforts by maintaining accurate and organized records.
• Proven experience in manufacturing accounting, with a strong understanding of cost accounting principles.
• Solid knowledge of general ledger operations and month-end close processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage accruals and intercompany transactions efficiently.
• Expertise in performing balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Proficiency in Oracle systems or similar ERP platforms (preferred).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data.
• Independent work ethic and ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
