Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $4,500–$5,000 for the full summer season — Based on experience and qualifications

Job Summary
A full-season leadership position for a school or guidance counselor who wants to take their skills into a residential camp environment. This is not therapy and it is not clinical work— it is staff development, family communication, and direct camper support, all woven into the daily rhythm of a busy summer community.
Key Responsibilities

Be present for all pre-camp staff training; go through camper profiles alongside unit leaders and counselors during bunk meetings ahead of opening day

Build counselor readiness to handle homesickness, peer tension, anxiety, and behavioral challenges through hands-on role play and structured group conversation

Drop into nightly unit meetings to take stock of how each bunk is functioning and sharpen staff responses to social friction and group dynamics

Run three Lunch & Learn sessions per unit during the summer as part of the ongoing staff development schedule

Field parent calls and emails as the dedicated family contact for camper care matters; route all communication through official camp channels only

Connect with every new camper family in the first week of camp; revisit families following Health Center stays when follow-up is needed

Go through Daily Camper Reports and sit down individually with campers whose social-emotional experience warrants closer attention

Flag mental health concerns with leadership before they escalate; coordinate with the Health Center to separate what’s emotional from what may be physical

Attend Camper Care Team meetings three times per week and any additional meetings called by program leadership

Conduct yourself with discretion and sound professional judgment at every turn—in this role, boundaries are the foundation everything else rests on
Minimum Requirements

Certified school guidance counselor with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience

Proven record working with children and adolescents on social, emotional, and behavioral development goals

Communicates with professionalism and clarity in both family-facing and colleague-facing situations

Has the self-awareness to maintain appropriate boundaries inside a residential, community-based work environment

Committed to the complete season—pre-camp training through closing day, no exceptions

Two professional references required; at least one from a current or recent direct supervisor
