Job Summary
A complete-season leadership role designed for a school or guidance counselor ready to bring their expertise into a residential camp setting. The work centers on developing staff, keeping families engaged and informed, and providing direct support to campers—all integrated into the natural daily flow of a thriving summer community.
Key Responsibilities

Participate in all pre-season staff training sessions; walk through camper background profiles with unit leaders and bunk counselors during pre-opening meetings.

Prepare counselors to navigate homesickness, behavioral difficulties, peer tension, and anxiety through facilitated discussion and practical role-play exercises.

Attend nightly unit meetings to assess bunk dynamics and help staff refine their approach to social challenges and group conflict.

Lead three Lunch & Learn development sessions per unit throughout the summer as part of the structured staff training calendar.

Act as the designated family contact for all camper welfare inquiries; manage every parent interaction through official camp communication platforms.

Personally reach out to all first-time camper families within the first week; reconnect with families following Health Center visits when continued follow-up is appropriate.

Review Daily Camper Reports and meet one-on-one with campers whose social or emotional adjustment requires individualized attention.

Escalate mental health concerns to leadership proactively; work with the Health Center to distinguish emotional support needs from potential physical or clinical concerns.

Attend Camper Care Team meetings three times weekly, plus any additional sessions convened by program leadership.

Model and uphold professional discretion and sound judgment throughout the season—clear, consistent boundaries are fundamental to this role.
Minimum Requirements

Certification as a school or guidance counselor with no fewer than 3 years of professional experience in the field.

Established track record supporting children and adolescents in social, emotional, and behavioral growth.

Communicates with clarity and professionalism in both family-facing and team-facing settings.

Demonstrates the self-awareness and discipline to hold appropriate professional boundaries within a residential, community-based environment.

Available for the entire season without exception—from pre-camp training through closing day on August 16.

Two professional references required, including at least one current or recent direct supervisor.
