Youth Co-Op, Inc., a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the social and economic conditions of youth, adults and families in South Florida, is seeking a Youth Counselor for its youth activities in Miami.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Youth Counselor will report to the Youth Programs Supervisor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to provision of comprehensive case management for the out-of-school youth. Successful candidate will conduct screening, eligibility determination, develop goals, facilitate services to meet the need of youth, remove barriers and develop the potential of youth participants though access to community resources, tutoring, mentoring, leadership training, work readiness, educational and vocational opportunities, and other relevant services. The Youth Counselor will coordinate and monitor services, track and document activates, evaluate career plan, provide counseling to youth to overcome personal and social problems, coordinate job placement activities and follow-up services. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field required and a minimum of two years of experience working with youth Tier I Workforce Professional certification is required within 10 days of hire, Demonstrated understanding of federal requirements for documenting program services and outcomes, and the ability to assist individuals and organizations with implementing effective documentation practices. Monitoring and evaluation, grants management and training experience preferred. Strong writing and communication skills in English required and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, is required. Foreign language ability (Spanish and French Creole) is desirable.
