TITLE: Band Director
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Building Principal, the Band Director is responsible for overseeing the band’s playing at various events throughout the year including: winter concert, spring concert, Veterans' Day luncheon, Veterans' Day parade, Tree Lighting, Craft Fair, all home football games (including Thanksgiving Day), Central District and All State participation, and the Memorial Day parade.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meets after school Monday, Thursday, Friday from 2-3pm for students who need extra guidance or help to prepare for district or all state auditions, or going over any difficult music that they have in band.
Teach students how to march and perform music in front of an audience.
Communicate with the Athletic Director and Cheerleading Coach for scheduled football games.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current member of the Oxford Education Association.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to demonstrate technique; move up to 25 lbs. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is generally performed primarily indoors and predominantly in a school classroom.
