What are the responsibilities and job description for the Band Director - Session 2 position at Oxford Middle School?

TITLE: Band Director - Session #2 (February - June)
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Building Principal, the Band Director for Session #1 is responsible for planning a spring concert in the Middle School Auditorium. When school wide events happen that involve the band, the Director is responsible for selecting music that is an appropriate level and relates to the event.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Remaining in close communication with the High School Band Director.
Having a good vision of growth in the band program.
Scheduling instrumental lessons during the day for the students' specials block.
Holding an after school band session from 2-3pm on Wednesdays.
Continuing a mentoring program with high school students who help the middle school students on Wednesday afternoons.
Assisting with the Memorial Day Parade and selecting middle school students to participate in this community event.
Chaperoning any school field trips that involve the band or individual band members
Conducting, when needed.
Having a good comprehensive knowledge of band technique and performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current member of the Oxford Education Association.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to demonstrate technique; move up to 25 lbs. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is generally performed primarily indoors and predominantly in a school classroom.
