TITLE: High School Alternative Discipline Program Monitor
SUMMARY: The High School Alternative Discipline Program Monitor partners with the Building Principal, other administrators, and teachers to oversee students assigned to in school suspension or afternoon detention.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Monitors students assigned to in school suspension and after school detention;
•Addresses any undesirable student behavior using positive intervention strategies;
•Communicates with Building Principal regularly to assure any unacceptable student behavior is addressed;
•Maintain attendance; and
•Check student work and collect student assignments, as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Current member of the Oxford Public Schools Oxford Education Association.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Effective inter-personal skills, clear and effective oral and written communication skills, strong community-service experience, sensitivity to working with people from diverse backgrounds, willingness to work at times when students and community members are available, including evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to demonstrate technique; move up to 25 lbs. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is generally performed primarily indoors and predominantly in a school classroom.
