Job Summary Pharmacist

The pharmacist will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans, manage medication therapies, and support patient recovery processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense medications accurately in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols
- Provide expert consultation on medication selection, dosing, and potential interactions
- Monitor patient responses to therapies, adjusting medications as necessary to optimize outcomes
- Oversee IV infusion preparations and aseptic techniques to ensure sterile compounding standards
- Assist in acute pain management and medication administration in various departments including ICU, PICU, and emergency room
- Conduct patient assessments focusing on physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to inform treatment plans
- Support medication reconciliation processes during patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Educate patients and healthcare staff on medication usage, side effects, and safety precautions
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, managed care protocols, and regulatory standards
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to hospital medicine initiatives
Duties - Pharmacist
The Pharmacist will be responsible for a broad scope of clinical duties designed to enhance patient safety and care quality. These include managing complex medication regimens within a Level I Trauma Center environment or similar acute care settings. The role involves active participation in trauma response teams with Level II trauma center experience preferred. Responsibilities also encompass supporting pediatrics through specialized knowledge of pediatric pharmacology and physiology. Additional duties include:
- Ensuring proper medication storage, labeling, and aseptic technique adherence
- Collaborating with physicians on pain management strategies tailored for acute pain scenarios
- Conducting patient service activities such as medication counseling and assessments
- Managing pharmacy inventory to ensure availability of essential drugs for critical care units
- Supporting post-residency training initiatives or ongoing professional development in clinical pharmacy practices
- Documenting all interventions accurately within the electronic health record system
- Assisting in the development of hospital protocols related to pharmacy operations
Experience - Pharmacist
Candidates should possess a valid pharmacist license with demonstrated experience in hospital settings. A minimum of one year of post-residency clinical pharmacy practice is required; additional experience in managed care or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable. Prior exposure to ICU environments—including ICU experience—is essential for success in this role. Preferred qualifications include:
- Completion of a pharmacy residency program with specialization in hospital or critical care pharmacy
- Proven expertise in managing medications within emergency room or trauma center contexts
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology principles relevant to acute care
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with pediatric pharmacotherapy and pediatrics-specific considerations
- Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on medication therapy management
