What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Stack Software Engineer position at MJH Consulting?
Full-Stack Engineer (Contract) - MJH Consulting
Company Description
MJH Consulting helps product teams build with clarity by providing strategic advisory services grounded in nearly a decade of enterprise product experience. The firm partners with organizations to define product vision, align stakeholders, and translate complex requirements into actionable roadmaps. MJH Consulting focuses on data-informed decision-making and practical frameworks that support scalable, resilient products. Team members collaborate closely with clients across industries, working in dynamic environments where innovation and measurable outcomes are valued.
Role Description
This remote Full-Stack Engineer contract role focuses on designing, building, and shipping web applications and prototypes that turn client strategy into working software. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing client-facing prototypes and internal tools, integrating APIs and LLM-based services, implementing clean and maintainable front-end and back-end code, and deploying reliable applications to modern cloud platforms. The Full-Stack Engineer will collaborate with MJH consultants and client teams to translate requirements into technical designs, contribute to architecture decisions, and document systems clearly for handoff.
MJH builds primarily with Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Python, deployed on modern cloud infrastructure, and works AI-forward: engineers use AI-assisted development workflows daily, and many client prototypes integrate LLM APIs and agentic patterns. Engineers typically deliver prototypes inside 8-12 week transformation programs and support shorter engagements as needed, with activated utilization of roughly 10-20 hours per week per engagement.
Qualifications
• 5-7 years of relevant work experience in full-stack or front-end software engineering is necessary.
• Candidates should demonstrate strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, and a modern full-stack framework such as Next.js, along with solid fundamentals in HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
• Candidates should have experience designing and consuming APIs, working with relational databases, and writing server-side code in Node.js or Python.
• Candidates should be comfortable deploying and operating applications on modern cloud platforms and using version control and CI workflows.
• Candidates should have experience integrating third-party services and, ideally, LLM APIs into production applications.
• Candidates should demonstrate attention to polish: interfaces that look designed, perform well, and hold up under real use.
• Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Prior experience in a product, agency, or consulting context is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A master's degree is preferred but is not a heavy requirement.
How This Engagement Works (Please Read Before Applying)
MJH Consulting is an early-stage boutique firm, and this is a 1099 contract role on the firm's delivery bench. Engineers are onboarded now and engaged as client work closes; there is no salary or retainer component. Compensation is a meaningful share of each engagement's revenue, split across the team that delivers it, with an additional bonus on any client an engineer brings in directly. Exact terms are documented in the subcontractor agreement and are reviewed together on the first call. This structure fits experienced independents who want senior client work with genuine upside alongside their own practice; it is not a fit for candidates who need guaranteed monthly income at this time.
Hiring Process
An introductory call with the founder, followed by a technical case conversation, then agreement, NDA, and security onboarding through the MJH portal. Onboarding to the bench is completed before the first client engagement.
