Job Overview
The CNC Mill Machinist will be responsible for programming, setting up, and running Haas CNC milling machines to fabricate parts according to provided engineering drawings. This role includes fixture design, tooling selection, process optimization, and quality inspection, with support for both production and engineering teams as needed. The position follows a consistent weekday schedule, with occasional overtime opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop CNC milling programs using Mastercam or similar CAM software.
- Set up and run Haas CNC mills to produce precision components.
- Choose appropriate tooling, set feeds and speeds, and refine machining processes.
- Design and construct fixtures as necessary for production parts.
- Replace tooling and identify signs of tool wear or cutting problems.
- Inspect parts using calipers, gauges, and other standard measuring instruments to ensure quality.
- Address and resolve basic machine, tooling, and quality-related issues.
- Perform manual machining and secondary tasks like deburring, drilling, and tapping.
- Communicate any concerns or suggested improvements to engineering or senior machinists.
- Maintain a tidy, safe, and well-organized workspace, contributing to a positive shop environment.
- Provide support in other shop areas as needed to maintain efficient workflow.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in CNC milling setup and operation.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience with Mastercam or equivalent CAM software.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with using calipers and other basic inspection tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and standing for extended periods during the shift.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment that is not climate-controlled.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to read and write in English.
