Position Overview
LHH is currently helping a client to find a Senior Mortgage Loan Closer for their office in Kansas City, MO. You would be responsible for managing residential mortgage loan closings from final approval through funding and post-closing handoff. This role ensures the accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of all closing documentation while coordinating with borrowers, settlement agents, loan officers, and internal teams to facilitate successful loan closings. Our ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of mortgage loan closing, title, banking or related financial services with knowledge of mortgage documentation, investor requirements, Closing Disclosures, settlement coordination, and loan funding processes. Key Responsibilities
- Manage a pipeline of residential mortgage loans, monitoring closing timelines, lock expirations, outstanding conditions, and funding requirements.
- Review loan approvals, title commitments, insurance documents, payoffs, taxes, fees, and settlement information for accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and deliver Closing Disclosures, closing instructions, and loan closing packages in accordance with federal regulations and lending guidelines.
- Coordinate with settlement agents to balance disclosures, validate cash-to-close figures, and resolve closing discrepancies.
- Verify funding figures, wire instructions, and required approvals prior to submitting funding requests.
- Collaborate with loan officers, processors, underwriters, funders, and post-closing teams to ensure timely and accurate closings.
- Identify and escalate compliance concerns, funding delays, document deficiencies, and investor-related issues.
- Maintain complete and accurate loan files, notes, and workflow updates within the loan origination system.
- Support a variety of residential mortgage products, including conventional, government, portfolio, and specialty loan programs.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and process improvement initiatives within the closing department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional college coursework or degree preferred.
- 5 years of mortgage loan closing, title, banking, or related financial services experience.
- Strong knowledge of residential mortgage documentation, settlement processes, Closing Disclosures, and loan funding procedures.
- Understanding of mortgage regulations including TRID, RESPA, TILA, CFPB requirements, and investor guidelines.
- Experience managing a high-volume pipeline while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and mortgage loan origination systems.
- Experience with Encompass or similar mortgage software preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Portfolio and non-agency mortgage loan closing experience.
- Knowledge of post-closing, investor delivery, collateral, servicing, and electronic document management processes.
- Experience supporting training, cross-training, and operational process improvements.
