Our client, a well-established food manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join its team in Ankeny, Iowa. This position is a highly visible role that partners closely with leaders and employees across the operation to foster a positive workplace culture, support employee engagement initiatives, and provide guidance on a wide range of human resources matters.
The ideal candidate will bring prior experience supporting a unionized workforce within a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment and will be comfortable serving as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations matters.
Compensation includes base salary of 80,000-$95,000. Full benefits are available to include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, company paid holidays, and 401k.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with supervisors and managers to address employee relations concerns and promote a positive work environment.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to leadership on employee relations issues, policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support a unionized workforce and assist with labor relations matters in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts for hourly and salaried positions, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Drive employee recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives.
- Conduct employee investigations and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Assist with performance management processes and employee development programs.
- Support policy interpretation, compliance, and HR-related training initiatives.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Collaborate with site leadership to support organizational goals and workforce planning efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of progressive HR experience.
- Prior experience supporting a unionized workforce is required.
- Experience within manufacturing, food manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or industrial environments is required.
- Strong employee relations and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience with full-cycle recruiting and onboarding.
- Ability to influence and build credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
