A well-established construction company in Suffolk County is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Project Accountant to support the financial operations of large-scale construction projects. Core Responsibilities
- Perform job cost reporting and maintain accurate project financial records
- Manage accounts payable, including cost coding, invoice review, and vendor communication
- Complete bank reconciliations and assist with union payroll reporting
- Work closely with Project Managers and Controllers to ensure timely approvals and proper cost allocation
- Process subcontractor and vendor invoices and review for contract compliance
- Submit required documentation through municipal reporting portals and track payment statuses
- Prepare and maintain Excel spreadsheets and contribute to financial reporting
- Assist with special projects and month-end tasks as directed by the Controller
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 3–5 years of construction accounting or project accounting experience
- Proficiency with Sage 300 (Timberline) or similar construction accounting software
- Strong understanding of job cost reporting and AP functions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfortable managing large datasets
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines
- Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
