What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at CRSG Construction & Realty Services Group?
CRSG is a construction management firm with several niche construction services provided in its portfolio. The employer provides administrative services to these B2B Companies such as Payroll, Billing, Accounts Payable, Analysis, Marketing, and IT. This company is an employer of about 50 administrative employees and 400-500 employees including its collective entities. Spread among several offices in both Midtown Manhattan & Southern Nassau County Long Island, you will be joining an organization of hardworking individuals focused on providing the best support services possible to our operations and, ultimately, our clientele.
Responsibilities:
- Manage project accounting activities including job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Monitor project budgets and expenses, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Process accounts payable and receivable specific to construction projects.
- Track subcontractor and vendor payments, lien releases, and contract compliance.
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and project status reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of change orders, purchase orders, and billing.
- Collaborate with project managers and field staff to reconcile budgets and expenses.
- Support audits and compliance with internal and external financial regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Procore, QuickBooks, or Viewpoint.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, billing cycles, and project financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred:
- CPA or other relevant certification (a plus, not required).
- Experience with AIA billing and construction contract management.
- Familiarity with GAAP and construction-specific financial practices.
- Familiarity with SAGE construction accounting software.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
