Position Summary
The Branch Manager is responsible for overall branch performance in alignment with company policies, procedures, and strategic objectives. This role leads the development and execution of the branch business plan, ensures profitability, and manages, develops, and motivates branch personnel. The Branch Manager provides strong leadership, drives continuous improvement, and supports the company’s goals, mission, and vision.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Direct all warehouse and branch operations, including inventory management, material ordering, and routing of deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain branch security and oversee opening and closing procedures.
- Participate in weekly Branch Manager meetings.
- Complete and submit all required personnel, accounting, accounts payable, and operational documentation in a timely manner.
- Manage workflow to balance priorities, provide backup support as needed, and ensure tasks are completed with urgency and accuracy.
- Demonstrate flexibility by performing any branch job function when necessary.
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies and manage inventory adjustments.
- Plan and maintain facility layout to promote safety, security, productivity, and efficient use of space.
- Ensure the facility is clean, organized, and professional in appearance.
- Actively seek feedback from team members and peers to drive personal and operational improvement.
Employee Management
- Assign, direct, and oversee all branch work in accordance with company policies, objectives, and applicable laws.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture through effective leadership, communication, and accountability.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring branch personnel.
- Oversee employee onboarding, training, and ongoing development; identify growth opportunities for team members.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, establish goals and objectives, and provide ongoing formal and informal feedback.
- Ensure employee safety by enforcing safety policies, correcting hazards, and maintaining equipment and vehicles.
- Promote an environment of respect, trust, empowerment, and accountability.
Sales & Account Management
- Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and key suppliers to address challenges and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers to promote a positive company image.
- Resolve customer issues and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Direct and coordinate counter sales efforts and support account development initiatives.
- Maintain a consistently positive, professional, and customer-focused demeanor across all interactions (in-person, phone, and email).
- Expand sales within existing accounts while identifying and developing new customer opportunities.
- Overcome customer objections by clearly communicating product and service value.
- Present product features and benefits, quote pricing, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales orders and related documentation.
- Develop referral networks to generate new business and increase gross profit.
- Proactively manage assigned sales territory through effective call scheduling and time management.
- Utilize sales and marketing data and CRM tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records, including expenses, fuel usage, and timecards.
- Continuously update product knowledge and assist customers in selecting appropriate solutions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
- Prior management or supervisory experience
- Proven ability to convert prospects into customers
- Strong problem-solving and objection-handling skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong listening skills and customer focus
- Self-motivated with high energy and enthusiasm
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
