Position Overview
A well-established, nationally recognized commercial construction management organization is seeking an experienced MEP Estimator to join its growing preconstruction team. This role supports complex commercial and institutional projects and focuses on producing accurate, competitive estimates across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Technology, and Low Voltage systems.
The MEP Estimator will collaborate closely with design teams, internal stakeholders, trade partners, and operations teams throughout the preconstruction lifecycle—from early planning and conceptual estimates through final bid and project handoff.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed MEP construction estimates (Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage) from conceptual design through completed construction documents
- Perform quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and scope development, identifying constructability issues, risks, and potential gaps early in the preconstruction phase
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, and trade partners to develop accurate pricing and competitive bids
- Conduct constructability reviews, first-cost and life-cycle cost analyses to support value engineering initiatives
- Support multiple contract delivery methods, including Lump Sum, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), and Cost Plus
- Analyze project schedules, general conditions, and utility requirements to ensure realistic and comprehensive estimates
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals to confirm scope coverage and minimize risk of overlaps or gaps
- Participate in estimate reviews, bid presentations, and formal handoffs from Preconstruction to Operations
- Maintain and leverage historical cost data and estimating tools/software to improve estimating accuracy and consistency
- Mentor or provide guidance to junior estimators as needed and contribute to team best practices
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience estimating MEP systems within commercial construction
- Proven experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing scopes; exposure to Fire Protection, Technology, and Low Voltage systems preferred
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop comprehensive estimates
- Strong collaboration, communication, and analytical skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered

- Base salary up to $148K, with flexibility based on experience and leveling

Salary : $110,000 - $150,000
