Logistics Transportation Specialist
Location: Columbia, MD (On-site)
Compensation: $26/hr - $36/hr
A growing, technology-driven organization is seeking a Logistics Transportation Specialist to support domestic transportation operations at its Columbia, MD facility. This role focuses on coordinating shipments, managing third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and executing transportation activities within SAP. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate inbound and outbound domestic shipments
- Manage day-to-day communication with third-party logistics (3PL) providers
- Schedule freight, track shipments, and resolve delivery issues or delays
- Execute transportation and shipping transactions within SAP
- Prepare and maintain accurate freight documentation and records
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and transportation regulations
- Provide shipment status updates to internal stakeholders
- Support freight cost control, carrier performance tracking, and process improvements
- Collaborate with warehouse, production, and supply chain teams
- Assist with international shipments and export documentation as needed (nice to have)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field or equivalent experience
- 3 years of logistics or transportation experience
- Hands-on experience working with 3PL providers
- Strong SAP experience in a logistics or transportation environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Exposure to international shipping or global transportation
- Familiarity with export documentation and compliance
- Experience supporting manufacturing, technology, or regulated environments
