Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation

LHH is partnering with a premier regional law firm to identify an Associate Attorney to join its growing civil litigation team in Providence, Rhode Island. This is a unique opportunity to gain early, meaningful responsibility while working closely with experienced trial partners in a collaborative, “teaching hospital” style environment.

In this role, you’ll gain exposure across professional liability, construction litigation, product liability, drugs and medical devices, life sciences, and toxic torts. Key responsibilities include:

• Meet a 2,000 billable hour target
• Draft pleadings, motions (including dispositive motions), and written discovery
• Take and defend depositions and lead discovery strategy
• Appear in Rhode Island state and federal courts for hearings and, where appropriate, trials
• Work directly with clients, witnesses, and experts to develop case strategy
• Conduct focused legal research and draft memoranda for motions and trial preparation
• Manage deadlines, proactively move matters forward, and contribute to trial prep on complex, high-value cases

Who We’re Looking For:

• 1 year civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, professional liability, or complex litigation
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active admission to the Rhode Island Bar (or ability to obtain soon)
• Experience practicing in Rhode Island state and federal courts
• Skilled in depositions, discovery management, and dispositive motion practice
• Proactive, self-directed, and highly organized

Compensation & Benefits*:

• Base Salary: $105,000 – $130,000/year (commensurate with experience)
