What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Litigation Associate position at Interlink Talent Solutions?
Our client is a global law firm, is seeking a 4th to 6th year Litigation Associate to join its New York office. This is an excellent opportunity for an associate with an interest in complex commercial litigation, class action defense, antitrust, intellectual property disputes and financial services litigation to work on sophisticated matters as part of a collaborative, cross-office team. The firm offers a supportive environment with exposure to high-profile cases and meaningful client interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing complex legal issues and conducting in-depth legal research
- Significant hands-on involvement in briefing, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Drafting high-quality briefs and memoranda addressing sophisticated litigation matters
- Preparing for and participating in motion practice and oral arguments
- Preparing deposition outlines and exhibits; taking or defending depositions (where applicable)
- Assisting with trial preparation, including direct and cross-examination outlines and exhibits
- Managing cases day-to-day, including written discovery, document review and production
- Working with experts and supporting expert discovery and preparation
- Collaborating closely with partners, associates, and clients across offices
Qualifications:
- 2–6 years of relevant litigation experience
- Applicants must be qualified associates with law firm experience; current judicial law clerks or judicial fellows will not be considered for this role.
- Experience handling complex commercial, class action, or financial services litigation
- Demonstrated experience with legal research and drafting briefs on sophisticated issues
- Motion practice experience, including preparation for and participation in oral argument
- Deposition preparation experience; taking or defending depositions is a plus
- Trial preparation experience preferred
- Strong strategic, analytical, and case management skills
- Ability to work directly with clients and contribute to case strategy
- Strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Law Review/Journal and/or Moot Court experience preferred, but not required
- Strong academic credentials
- Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing
- Admission to the Southern and/or Eastern Districts of New York preferred but not required
- Past Federal clerkship and experience in New York State court is preferred.
