Description/Responsibilities:
- Performs detailed quality control inspections, checks and tests for receipt and manufacturing of products.
- Perform first article inspections.
- Inspect material, parts and products at different stages of production, including incoming, in-process and final of machined, molded and fabricated components.
- Verify parts against engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, etc.).
- Inspect subassemblies and finished devices for conformance to requirements, including fit, finish and workmanship.
- Document inspection results accurately and in compliance with company procedures. Suggest improvements to processes and/or products.
- Initiate debit memos and request RMAs from suppliers.
- Assist employees within the receiving/inspection department in trouble shooting problems that arise.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with team members as well as other departments on projects and issue resolution.
- Able to rework or clean product when necessary.
- Able to complete on the job training as necessary.
- Able to work in open environment and close proximity to other team members.
- Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.
- Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
Reports to: Quality Engineer
Prerequisites:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical training or associate degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or quality discipline preferred.
- May require 3-5 years of related work experience.
Requirements:
- Use and follow written work instructions or other publications.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools including dial calipers, thread ring and plug gauges, gauge pins, height gauges, micrometers, CMM, optical comparators, and other inspection equipment as required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, blueprints, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, or other regulated quality systems.
- Adhere to good manufacturing practices as related to product and quality standards.
- Willing to work across departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in speaking and writing English.
- Detail oriented.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Mechanical ability.
- Reliable.
- Computer literate with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). ERP/QMS Systems a plus.
- Accurate documentation and record keeping required.
- Able to work independently but also work well in a group environment.
- Possess a thorough understanding of general aspects of the job.
Physical Demands:
- Able to use small hand or power tools.
- Able to use small fixtures.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and raise to a height of 30β.
- Able to climb up and down ladder.
- Able to sit in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
