Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in various care settings, including home health, assisted living, and group homes, and will be skilled in providing compassionate care to those with diverse needs, including seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide personal care services while ensuring the comfort and dignity of clients.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client conditions.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning and preparation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Follow care plans established by healthcare professionals and assist with medication administration as needed.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques.
- Experience working in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs.
- Ability to assist individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, and memory care strategies.
- Proficient in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary needs.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
