Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those they serve. This role requires a blend of personal care skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client conditions.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans.
- Prepare meals according to dietary needs and preferences, ensuring proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning and laundry.
- Assist clients with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in social activities and promote independence through direct support.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or autism as needed.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure client confidentiality and privacy.
Experience
Candidates should possess experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Home & community care experience or home health services.
- Assisted living or nursing home experience.
- Working with people with developmental disabilities or special needs.
- Direct support roles in caregiving or social work settings.
- Familiarity with first aid, CPR, patient observation, patient monitoring, and vital signs is preferred. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to quality patient care, and the ability to handle heavy lifting when required. Experience in long-term care settings is highly valued, along with knowledge of meal preparation and cleaning protocols relevant to caregiving environments.
