Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. This role involves working closely with clients to ensure their comfort, safety, and overall well-being.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide patient care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and autism
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in the client's condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties
- Administer medications as per care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records of client progress
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home health care, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is a plus
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Understanding of care plans and the ability to follow them accurately
- A compassionate approach towards caregiving, demonstrating patience and empathy towards clients
