Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role involves working closely with individuals in various settings, including home care, assisted living, and group homes, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the client's quality of life.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client health status.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Assist with medication administration as per care plans and guidelines.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Implement care plans developed by healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Engage clients in social activities and promote independence while ensuring safety.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, dementia, or autism as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as home health, hospice care, or long-term care is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Experience in meal preparation and cooking for individuals with specific dietary requirements is beneficial.
- A background in social work or nursing can enhance your application but is not mandatory.
