Staff Accountant – Construction

The Opportunity
A growing electrical contracting firm with a strong presence across Queens and the Bronx is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its finance team. With a steady pipeline of projects and a collaborative, hands-on environment, this is a great opportunity to build experience across both core accounting and construction-specific finance.

Position Overview
Reporting into senior finance leadership, the Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations while gaining exposure to project and job cost accounting. You’ll work closely with project managers and internal teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and smooth processing of transactions across multiple projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with general ledger maintenance
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assist with month-end close activities
- Help track job costs across labor, materials, and subcontractors
- Support billing processes and follow up on outstanding receivables
- Maintain accurate financial records within the accounting system (Sage Intacct preferred)
- Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or subcontracting environments
- Exposure to AP, AR, general ledger, and reconciliations
- Understanding of job costing is a plus
- Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a project-based environment
