Senior Accountant – Electrical Construction
New York, NY/Queens (Fully Onsite)

The Opportunity
A well-established electrical contracting firm servicing projects across the Queens and Bronx area is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its growing finance team. With a strong pipeline of active projects, long-standing client relationships, and a leadership team known for stability and low turnover, this is a business that offers both long-term security and clear progression.
This role blends core general ledger accounting with hands-on involvement in project and job cost accounting—ideal for someone who wants to stay close to the operational side of construction finance.
Position Overview
Reporting into finance leadership, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in the month-end close, internal reporting, and project-level financial oversight. You’ll partner closely with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate cost tracking, reliable reporting, and visibility into project profitability across multiple electrical projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support month-end close and assist with preparation of internal financial statements
- Analyze budget vs. actuals and investigate project-level variances
- Maintain job cost tracking and oversee WIP schedules across multiple projects
- Monitor labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and change order activity
- Support revenue recognition using percentage-of-completion methodology
- Assist with billing cycles, cash flow tracking, and forecasting
- Participate in audit preparation and ensure GAAP compliance
- Maintain accuracy of financial data within Sage Intacct
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4 years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or electrical contracting
- Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
- Exposure to job costing and WIP reporting preferred
- Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills
- CPA or CPA track preferred
