Position Summary

Green New Energy Materials (GNEM) is seeking an experienced QC Deputy Manager to support the Quality Control department within our lithium-ion battery separator manufacturing operations. This position assists the QC Manager in overseeing laboratory operations, in-process inspections, incoming material inspections, and final product testing to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications and company quality standards.

The QC Deputy Manager will provide technical leadership to the Quality Control team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, investigate quality issues, and work cross-functionally with Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EHS to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin (speaking, reading, and writing) is required to effectively communicate with global leadership, technical teams, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist the QC Manager in supervising daily Quality Control laboratory and inspection activities.
  • Oversee incoming material inspections, in-process inspections, final product testing, and product release activities.
  • Ensure laboratory testing and inspection activities comply with company quality standards, customer specifications, and established testing procedures.
  • Review inspection and laboratory data to identify trends, process variation, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints, nonconforming materials, and production quality issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve quality concerns and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Support development and maintenance of inspection procedures, testing methods, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports for management.
  • Assist with internal audits, customer audits, supplier audits, and third-party quality assessments.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operated according to established procedures.
  • Train, mentor, and develop Quality Control technicians and inspectors while promoting a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support new product introductions, equipment qualification, process validation, and manufacturing startup activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and laboratory best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Five or more years of Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a quality organization.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management principles, laboratory testing, inspection methods, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and corrective and preventive action (CAPA).
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis, and quality data analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in battery manufacturing, lithium-ion materials, plastics, film manufacturing, chemical processing, semiconductor, or other advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and quality auditing practices.
  • Experience using laboratory instruments and quality inspection equipment.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience or certification.
  • Internal Auditor certification is preferred.
  • Experience supporting customer quality requirements and supplier quality improvement initiatives.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the production facility for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in laboratory and production areas.
