HVAC Engineer - Bilingual in Mandarin

Position Summary

Green New Energy Materials (GNEM) is seeking a skilled Equipment Technician to support the maintenance and reliability of production equipment used in the manufacturing of lithium-ion battery separator materials. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to maximize uptime, ensure product quality, and maintain a safe working environment.

The ideal candidate has strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and is committed to continuous improvement.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is required to effectively communicate with equipment vendors, technical documentation, and engineering teams.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using schematics, technical manuals, electrical drawings, and precision testing instruments.
  • Repair or replace motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, valves, conveyors, pumps, and other production equipment components.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and qualification activities for new production lines.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify potential equipment issues before failures occur.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Collaborate with Production, Process Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce recurring equipment failures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and mechanical modifications as needed to support equipment repairs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, valves, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar).
  • Proficiency using diagnostic equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred

  • Experience in battery, chemical processing, plastics, film manufacturing, or other continuous manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of automation systems, robotics, servo motors, VFDs, and industrial controls.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Forklift, aerial lift, or scissor lift certification.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis or thermography.
  • Experience supporting new equipment installation and commissioning.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined equipment areas when necessary.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery while following all safety procedures.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
