GNEM is seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations at our advanced lithium-ion battery separator production facility. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while leading and developing production employees to meet operational goals.
This position requires professional fluency in both English and Mandarin to facilitate effective communication with local production teams, Mandarin-speaking engineers and technical experts, and global leadership. The supervisor will play a key role in driving operational excellence, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.
About the Role
The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while leading and developing production employees to meet operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives are achieved.
- Lead, coach, and develop production employees to maintain a high-performing and engaged workforce.
- Plan staffing, assign work, and monitor production schedules to meet customer and business requirements.
- Monitor production metrics, analyze performance, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams to support uninterrupted production.
- Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve equipment, process, and quality concerns.
- Conduct shift meetings, communicate production priorities, and provide timely operational updates.
- Support employee training, onboarding, performance management, and development activities.
- Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and operational documentation.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in new equipment installations, process improvements, and production ramp-up activities.
- Communicate effectively with U.S.-based employees and Mandarin-speaking engineers, technical specialists, and leadership to ensure alignment on production priorities, process improvements, technical issues, and project execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of manufacturing supervisory or production leadership experience.
- Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written).
- Experience supervising production teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience with production planning, scheduling, and KPI management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MES systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in lithium-ion battery, battery materials, automotive, electronics, chemical processing, or other high-volume manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality management systems.
- Experience supporting production start-up or greenfield manufacturing operations.
