Fund Accountant

A growing and well-established financial service firm, is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its Chicago-based finance team. This role offers excellent exposure to private investment structures, fund operations, financial reporting, and collaboration with investment professionals and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual fund financial statements.
• Maintain fund general ledgers and record investment transactions, including purchases, sales, income, and expenses.
• Calculate investor allocations, capital activity, management fees, and carried interest.
• Assist with NAV calculations and fund performance reporting.
• Coordinate quarterly and annual reporting deliverables with fund administrators, auditors, and tax professionals.
• Support the audit process by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
• Reconcile cash, investment activity, and capital accounts.
• Monitor compliance with fund governing documents and partnership agreements.
• Assist with investor reporting and ad hoc requests from senior management.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2 years of accounting experience, preferably within fund accounting, public accounting, asset management, private equity, hedge funds, or alternative investments.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with investment partnerships, fund structures, or alternative asset classes is a plus.
• CPA designation or CPA track is preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting or portfolio management systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
