Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Credit & Collections Manager to lead our credit, billing, and accounts receivable functions. This role is responsible for minimizing financial risk, improving cash flow, and ensuring the integrity of billing operations, while maintaining strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external clients. The ideal candidate brings a balance of analytical expertise, leadership capability, and industry knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Assess the financial reliability of new and existing clients by conducting detailed credit analyses and risk assessments.
- Implement sound credit practices to reduce exposure and support informed decision-making on client accounts.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and proactively flag delinquent accounts.
- Provide timely updates to internal teams regarding client payment activity and aging balances.
- Lead collection efforts by engaging clients with overdue balances to understand payment delays and negotiate practical solutions.
- Maintain a professional and solutions-oriented approach that preserves long-term client relationships.
- Direct all billing activities, including invoice creation, distribution, and reconciliation.
- Ensure billing accuracy and compliance with contractual terms and internal policies.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies efficiently to prevent delays in payment.
- Maintain the accuracy and reliability of billing and collections data within internal systems.
- Analyze financial data to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Develop and present regular performance reports and key metrics.
- Supervise, coach, and develop a team, including two Assistant Managers, to drive performance and accountability.
- Delegate responsibilities, establish priorities, and cultivate a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Partner with finance, sales, and operations teams to ensure alignment on billing practices and credit policies.
- Address client inquiries related to invoices and payments in a timely and professional manner.
- Support audits and work with external partners as needed.
- Evaluate existing billing and collections workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Implement best practices and leverage systems and tools to streamline operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance accuracy, turnaround time, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in credit and collections management, preferably within the construction, ready-mix concrete, or building materials industry.
- Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment, financial statement analysis, and collections strategies.
- Demonstrated experience managing high-volume accounts receivable portfolios and reducing aged balances.
- Familiarity with construction lien laws, bond claims, and industry-specific credit practices.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supervising multiple direct reports, including team leads or assistant managers.
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on risk mitigation and process efficiency.
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing demands effectively.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience preparing reports, presenting financial data, and communicating insights to leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial targets.
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Salary : $110,000 - $125,000
