Role Summary
As the STEAM Assistant Principal, you will partner with the Building Principal to lead the daily operations and instructional vision of a specialized middle school environment. Working in a high-energy, project-based setting, you will oversee student engagement, support teacher growth through data-driven coaching, and ensure that STEAM integration is felt in every hallway and classroom. You will work collaboratively with families and community partners to foster a restorative, inclusive, and academically rigorous climate where every scholar belongs.
Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)
- Certified Leader: Valid Missouri Initial or Professional K-8 or 7-12 Principal Certification .
- Degree Requirements: Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or Administration, required; Specialist or Doctorate, preferred.
- The "STEAM" Specialist: You have a deep understanding of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and know how to support teachers in integrating technology and the arts across core subjects.
- Equity & Restorative Champion: You are an expert in restorative justice practices and are committed to eliminating barriers to achievement for all students.
- Relational Expert: You possess the "Middle School Magic"—the ability to build deep trust with 11-to-14-year-olds while maintaining high professional standards with staff and parents.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Instructional Coaching: Lead the "New Chapter" of teaching by providing high-quality feedback to staff, focused on STEAM integration, inquiry-based learning, and student agency.
- Restorative Leadership: Oversee student empowerment and engagement, utilizing restorative circles and proactive behavioral supports to maintain a safe, joyful school climate.
- Operational Excellence: Manage the logistics of a complex middle school—from master scheduling and safety drills to coordinating high-visibility STEAM showcases and community events.
- Data-Driven Growth: Analyze student performance and attendance data to lead MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) teams in creating targeted interventions for every scholar.
- Community Connection: Act as a primary liaison for families, ensuring transparent communication and building strong partnerships that support student success.
