The Wright City R-II School District is seeking a qualified professional to serve as a middle school assistant principal beginning the 2026-2027 school year.

 

The Middle School Assistant Principal collaborates with the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff, and parents. This includes such responsibilities as leading, directing, counseling, and supervising a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective parent, teacher, and child communications; supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork between teachers and among staff and parents; and managing budget items.

Reports To:            Principal

 

Summary:  Assists the principal in implementing the school’s educational programs and facility operations.

  

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school including but not limited to the following areas below:
  2. Implements district policy, prepares the master schedule; supervises instructional activities; creates a positive instructional climate and monitors the grading system.
  3. Supervising the in-building staff.
  4. Screens, interviews and recommends placement of applicants.
  5. Acts as a liaison between the school and the community.
  6. Maintains the school’s records and the safe functioning of the physical plant.
  7. Assists in the supervision and evaluation the school’s extracurricular program.
  8. Assists the principal in the implementation of curriculum and IEPs.
  9. Assists and supervises teachers in preparing curriculum materials and in the development and implementation of instructional techniques.
  10. Prepares and implements pre-service and in-service training of instructional staff.
  11. Assists with meetings and conferences at the school (faculty, staff assemblies, etc.); graduation activities including rehearsals and commencement; school inventories and reports of excess equipment, theft and vandalism, and sponsorships for other student activities.
  12. Schedules and implements emergency drills.
  13. Assists in the preparation of the school’s budget as it relates to curriculum development and textbook adoptions.
  14. Establish and maintain proper student conduct and the enforcement of student discipline with respect to individual rights.
  15. Maintains active relationships with students and parents.
  16. Supervises the maintenance of accurate attendance records and establishes appropriate programs to promote good attendance.
  17. Attends special events held to recognize student achievement and attends school sponsored activities, functions and events.
  18. Assumes responsibility for his/her professional growth and development.
  19. Serves as the principal in the absence of the building principal.
  20. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Masters Degree in Education with two years previous teaching experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Missouri Principal Certification required.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to work one-on-one and speak effectively before groups.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and draw and interpret graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle, feel and reach.  The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.  Regular attendance on the job is expected.

 

 

Terms of Employment:

Contract terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education’s policies, agreements and approvals.
