Job Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary facilities by performing routine cleaning. This position supports the overall appearance and functionality of assigned buildings by ensuring that all custodial duties are completed in accordance with established standards and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing assigned areas.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, break rooms, offices, hallways, and other common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply needs to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Follow all safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly.
- Support special cleaning projects or deep cleaning activities as assigned.
- Assist with floor care duties as needed based on operational needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to safely operate basic custodial equipment.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with staff and visitors.
- Attendance is a requirement to be successful in this position.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in varying conditions.
Work Environment and Schedule
Work is performed in a variety of settings and may involve exposure to cleaning products, equipment, and varying conditions. The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting, along with the use of cleaning tools and machinery. This position is primarily scheduled for nighttime hours. Weekend work may be available based on operational needs.
