Job Summary
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney to join its New York office and support a sophisticated hospitality-focused employment practice. This role offers the opportunity to advise and represent prominent restaurants, boutique hotels, entertainment venues, and nightlife businesses on a broad range of employment law matters.
The ideal candidate will have strong litigation and counseling experience involving wage and hour, discrimination, and employment-related matters within a fast-paced and client-facing environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day employment counseling to hospitality industry clients on wage and hour, discrimination, and general employment matters.
- Handle employment litigation matters involving wage and hour and discrimination claims.
- Serve as first-chair attorney on employment litigation matters when appropriate.
- Manage class action wage and hour litigation matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and other litigation-related documents.
- Advise clients on New York State and New York City employment laws and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with attorneys and clients on litigation strategy and risk management issues.
- Support a dynamic hospitality-focused labor and employment practice.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school required.
- Active New York Bar admission required.
- 4–8 years of labor and employment experience within a law firm environment preferred.
- Experience handling discrimination and wage and hour litigation matters required.
- Experience with wage and hour class actions required.
- Experience counseling clients on New York employment laws preferred.
- Hospitality industry labor relations experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with the New York State Hospitality Wage Order strongly preferred.
- Strong legal writing, analytical, research, and communication skills required.
- Strong academic credentials preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary up to $285,000
- Compensation is determined based on experience, education, geographic location, and other business-related factors permitted by law.
