Position Summary
The Academic Content Facilitator is passionate about helping students fall in love with reading and math. This role calls for someone who is professional, creative, flexible, and fun — someone who can teach a diverse array of concepts and communicate effectively with both students and adults. The Academic Content Facilitator is responsible for delivering a structured, research-based curriculum designed to accelerate student growth in math and reading. Working closely with the Program Coach, the Academic Content Facilitator receives ongoing support and feedback to continuously strengthen their instructional practice. The Academic Content Facilitator is a team player who is excited to help students make amazing academic progress over the summer.
Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Internalize and deliver daily academic lessons for groups of up to 20 students, implementing a structured, research-based curriculum designed to accelerate student growth in reading and math.
- Classroom Environment: Create a safe, respectful, and youth development-based learning environment where all students feel welcomed, valued, and set up for success.
- Culturally Relevant Instruction: Implement and modify lesson plans to ensure content is culturally relevant and accessible for a diverse population of students.
- Behavior Management and Conflict Resolution: Manage student behavior and resolve conflicts promptly and effectively, using strategies that promote independence, self-control, and a positive classroom culture.
- Classroom Organization: Organize the classroom environment to facilitate student independence, smooth transitions, and effective use of communal supplies and materials.
- Progress Tracking and Communication: Work closely with the Program Coach, Site Director, and Operations Coordinator to track student progress and communicate regularly about individual and group needs.
- Team Collaboration: Serve as an active and supportive team member alongside the Director of Expanded Learning, Site Director, and fellow Academic Content Facilitators.
- Professional Development: Participate in all scheduled staff development sessions, training, and team meetings, and prepare effectively for classroom observations and coaching conversations.
- Other tasks as assigned or necessary for program success.
