This position requires deep expertise in machine performance, controls, simulation, and validation planning. The engineer will work closely with multiple engineering teams, proving grounds personnel, and cross-functional product groups to define requirements, optimize test strategies, and reduce redundant field testing. This role offers significant technical leadership opportunities, high visibility, and end-to-end contributions across major development programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with engineering teams (L6–L8) to understand configuration variations and develop detailed strategic test plans that minimize redundant machine-level testing
• Analyze existing proving-ground testing and tuning activities; define requirements for VPD, SIL, and HIL to reduce or eliminate field tuning
• Participate in validation workshops and provide data-collection requirements for model correlation
• Support controls and software validation activities across multiple ongoing and future programs
• Provide technical leadership in machine-level performance, controls development, and optimization
• Work closely with cross-functional teams—including autonomy, product teams, and proving-grounds test facilities—to ensure aligned validation strategies
Required Qualifications

• 5–7 years of machine controls development and/or testing experience
• Machine/vehicle-level engineering experience in performance, controls, simulation, or testing
• Familiarity with mining-truck operation and machine-level applications
• Strong understanding of machine controls, software, testing, and simulation methods
• Excellent project-management, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with large mining trucks or off-highway equipment
• Knowledge of machine performance, controls development, and system-integration workflows
• Familiarity with tools such as Dynasty or similar diagnostic/controls platforms
• Understanding of truck applications and autonomous operations
• Prior experience collaborating with proving-grounds teams
Why This Role?
This role offers the opportunity to work at the machine level on high-impact mining-truck programs with broad cross-functional visibility. You will collaborate with autonomy teams, machine/product teams, and proving-grounds personnel, gaining end-to-end exposure to controls development—from requirements definition through validation and field testing. Cullerton Group provides a professional environment with strong technical leadership opportunities, impactful engineering contributions, and long-term project stability.
