What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site (multi-city)
- W2
- $200K/yr
You will become the person they reach out to in moments of uncertainty, when intuition signals a concern, or when they want to share an experience they know you will appreciate. You will understand each family deeply enough to recognize their needs ahead of time—and you will possess the judgment and composure to address what they bring to you with care, tact, and seamless execution. Over time, your role will extend beyond their child's education. You will become woven into how they navigate this formative period in their family's story.
This level of trust is not built through frameworks. It is earned through presence—consistent, daily, and deliberate. You will be on-site during morning arrival and afternoon departure, present at the evening gatherings that hold significance, and available for the private conversations that rarely appear on a schedule. You will cultivate a community that families feel personally invested in, where inclusion feels organic and word-of-mouth referrals follow from the quality of the experience.
Alpha operates outside the traditional school model. Students complete core academics in two hours per day through AI-powered platforms, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No lectures. No redundant assignments. Top 1% academic outcomes nationwide. The families who enroll are investing in a vision they believe in—but conviction requires ongoing stewardship.
You will sustain that dialogue with every family, through every question, for the duration of their child's enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional approach to discerning, high-expectation families sounds draining, this position is not the right fit. If it sounds like the most meaningful conversation you could be engaged in, continue reading.
What You Will Be Doing
- Take ownership of the relationship with every enrolled family—the continuous, evolving relationship that ensures parents feel recognized, not simply attended to
- Identify concerns proactively before they surface as issues, and address them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
- Maintain a visible presence in the daily rhythms of campus life: morning arrival (7–9am), afternoon departure (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend engagements
- Develop a campus community with authentic depth—events, rituals, and connection points that create a sense of belonging worth safeguarding
- Foster parent advocates through organic means, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge naturally
- Sustain the ongoing conversation about Alpha's AI-powered approach with families balancing concerns about screen time, skepticism from relatives, and periodic uncertainty—not only during enrollment, but across their entire campus experience
- Recognize when a family is not aligned with the community and navigate that situation with the same professionalism you apply to all interactions—protecting the collective is part of serving it well
- Establish the systems and cadences this role demands in a setting where operational norms are still being defined
- Overseeing enrollment—that responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your work starts when families enroll and deepens continuously
- Operating from an office—your visibility within the community is the essence of the role
- Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are core to the position, not occasional demands
- Relying on administrative infrastructure, pre-built processes, or a complete team—you will function with significant autonomy and develop what is necessary
- Approaching family relationships as transactional—this role is designed for authentic human connection, not procedural execution
Serve as the central trusted relationship in every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, build a community where belonging is meaningful, and establish the conditions under which satisfied families naturally become active advocates.
Basic Requirements
- Currently live within commuting distance of one of these campuses OR willing to relocate within 60 days (preference for candidates with existing community roots): Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Park City, UT; Chantilly, VA; or Kirkland, WA
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- 5 years in a relationship-focused role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or any setting where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal fluency were as critical as competence
- Proven capacity to sustain relationships through complex moments with sophisticated families and maintain trust throughout
- Authentic presence and communication approach that quickly earns credibility with affluent, high-expectation families—not rehearsed or overly formal
- Direct familiarity with independent, private, or non-traditional education—through professional experience or as a parent—that provides genuine credibility when families raise doubts about the model
- Sincere conviction in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that belief authentically throughout years of parent relationships, not only during initial enrollment discussions
- Flexibility for non-standard hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening events 2–3x/month, and occasional weekend activities
Exceptional candidates will possess at least one of the following:
- Pre-existing relationships within the local affluent community that would provide an immediate, organic entry point on campus
- Private school or independent school background with demonstrated success in family retention and community cultivation—not merely enrollment metrics
- Experience managing high-stakes family relationships where your judgment and discretion were the foundation of sustained trust
- A natural ability to design experiences—events, moments, environments—that make people feel they are part of something valuable and protective
- Prior startup or early-stage organizational experience where you built from the ground up and remained composed through rapid change
