Field Specialist (Travel Lighting & Energy Auditor)

The Field Specialist (Lighting & Energy Auditor) is a critical team member in our sales process, supporting both our Sales and Project Management teams. This role involves surveying existing lighting systems in commercial and industrial buildings across North America. The information gathered by the Field Specialist is essential in informing project proposals and helping our Sales team design projects that win deals. This is a detail-oriented role, ideal for someone who enjoys being on the move, maintaining accurate documentation, and cares about overall quality. The role also requires roughly 80% travel, making it perfect for those who want to explore the beauty of our country.
Key Responsibilities: Travel to conduct site audits at various locations in the U.S. and Canada. Typical travel is from Monday to Thursday. Back home for Fridays at the Vancouver HQ. No over-the-weekend travel. Develop and maintain auditing process standards and documentation for the company. Train and evaluate new team members on the auditing process. Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, and Sales Operations teams to define and document auditing best practices. Walk through commercial facilities to document current lighting systems, controls, layouts, and building dimensions. Identify existing light fixture types, counts, and additional inputs needed for energy savings calculations. Read and extract data from floor plans, lighting specifications, and utility bills. Prepare detailed audit reports using provided templates. Plan and optimize the audit schedule based on location and type of audit requests, with autonomy in arranging flights and accommodations. Maintain clear communication between customers, Sales, and Project Management teams while on-site.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience: Positive attitude and a sense of humor. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and a willingness to master necessary tools. Knowledge of electrical principles and lighting systems/controls is a plus. Ability to work Fridays at Vancouver, WA headquarters Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred. Electrical Engineering degree or Lighting/Electrical Industry experience is a plus but not required. Preference for a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or experience in conducting lighting and energy audits. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: A valid insurable Driver's License and Passport.
