The Job
The Field Specialist is a key team member in the sales process, supporting both our Sales and Project Management teams by surveying existing lighting systems for prospective customers in commercial and industrial buildings across North America. The Field Specialist functions as the eyes of the company, performing lighting and electrical surveys that inform our scopes of work, product specification, and pricing. This is a detail-oriented role and is perfect fit for someone who loves being on the move, maintaining proper documentation, takes pride in accuracy, cares about overall quality, and can stick to a schedule and budgets. A desire to be a road warrior and see the wonders of our beautiful country is also essential as this position requires roughly 80% travel and will typically travel 3-4 days every week.
This position will be based in Vancouver, WA (HQ)
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000
Job Duties
- Learn PEC audit process and partner with Sales, Project Management, and Sales Operations teams to outline, define, and document auditing best practices
- Train new PEC team members on auditing process
- Walk commercial facilities including warehouses, offices, manufacturing environments, and auto dealerships to document current systems and conditions
- Identify existing light fixture types, counts, controls, layouts, building dimensions, light levels, and additional inputs needed for energy savings calculations
- Read floor plans, lighting specifications, and utility bills to extract PEC project data inputs
- Prepare detailed audit reports summarizing audit results using provided templates
- Develop and optimize schedule based on type and location of incoming audit requests. The Auditor will typically travel Monday through Thursday, documenting anywhere from 3-12 sites each week, with the autonomy to plan their own flights and hotel accommodations
- Provide high level of communication between PEC Customers and PEC Sales and Project Management teams while embodying PECs core values and Sales methodologies while on-site
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Electrical Engineering degree or Lighting/Electrical Industry experience a plus, but not required
- Preference for a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or have experience conducting lighting and energy audits
- Must be detailed-oriented, able to work independently, and autonomously manage schedule
- Must be able to multi-task and handle a high volume of projects
- Proficient in MS Office Suite & Auditing software or committed to master necessary tools
- Knowledge of electrical principles and lighting systems/controls strongly preferred
A valid, insurable driver's license is required.
