Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken.
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting to ensure consistency across all accounts.
- Prepare journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to verify account accuracy.
- Assist with payroll processing, tax filings, and governmental accounting requirements as needed.
- Support budgeting activities and generate financial reports to aid management decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls related to double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles within corporate or non-profit environments.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms is essential.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including GAAP standards, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Experience with governmental accounting practices and tax preparation is a plus.
- Familiarity with technical accounting procedures such as general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Ability to perform 10 key typing accurately for data entry tasks.
