Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Spine & Pain team. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, professional, and passionate about providing excellent patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant will support our providers and clinical team in delivering high-quality care to patients experiencing spine and pain-related conditions. This position will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients in a professional and compassionate manner
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, vital signs, and other clinical information
- Assist providers with examinations and procedures
- Prepare treatment and procedure rooms
- Coordinate patient flow and help maintain efficient clinic operations
- Assist with scheduling, referrals, and obtaining necessary medical records
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Communicate with patients regarding appointments, instructions, and follow-up care
- Assist with injections and other office-based procedures as directed and within scope of practice
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and appropriate supplies in clinical areas
- Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, and office safety standards
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain patient confidentiality
- Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Previous medical office or clinical experience preferred
- Experience in orthopedics, pain management, neurology, or a similar specialty is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Professional, dependable, and patient-focused
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment
