Key Responsibilities Of The Staff Accountant
- Prepare monthly general ledger entries and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare supporting Excel schedules.
- Prepare journal entries for cash deposits, credit card activity, payroll and other transactions.
- Review, reconcile and record company credit card activity.
- Prepare and submit sales tax returns and payments for multiple states
- Maintain fixed asset records and supporting invoice documentation.
- Assist with all aspects of accounts payable as needed.
- Manage petty cash activity and reconciliations.
- Support weekly payroll processing, including review of employee timecards, commissions, mileage, expenses and PTO.
- Reconcile weekly payroll activity and prepare the related journal entries.
- Calculate and submit weekly 401(k) contributions
- Maintain year-end 401(k) information and assist with completion of the annual census.
- Assist with employee files, benefits administration and workers' compensation reporting as needed.
- Support accounting activities for affiliated entities.
- Participate in special projects and process improvements as needed.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on accounting experience will also be considered.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Understanding of balance sheet accounts and basic accounting principles.
- Payroll and/or accounts payable experience preferred.
- Experience with sales tax filings is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting systems.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Flexible, team-oriented mindset and willingness to assist across different areas of the business.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
