Duties

• Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment
• Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with healthcare standards
• Use proper chemical handling procedures to safely manage cleaning agents and disinfectants, ensuring compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations
• Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces, floors, medical equipment, and high-touch areas to prevent healthcare-associated infections
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, steam cleaners, and other janitorial tools efficiently and safely
• Follow environmental services protocols to ensure safe waste disposal and proper sanitation practices in all areas of the facility
• Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices when moving furniture or large supplies while adhering to safety protocols
• Support infection control measures by following healthcare-specific cleaning procedures and safety guidelines at all times

Experience

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience in healthcare facilities or hospitals is highly preferred
• Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment housekeeping standards is advantageous
• Experience with commercial cleaning equipment and chemical agents handling is desirable
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to chemical handling, manual handling, and environmental safety is essential
• Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safety protocol adherence consistently
• Customer service skills are valued for interacting courteously with staff members and visitors while maintaining a professional attitude
