Industrial Seamstress

The Techno-Aide Sewist is expected to bring a professional courteous attitude to all staff members both up and down the chain of command and is expected to be the foremost person in understanding of the sewing of all apparel/vinyl items.

Skills Requirements:

• Basic sewing experience required (Industrial Sewing a Plus)
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
• Good communication skills with capacity to make independent decisions, when appropriate
• Performs other duties as assigned to include assisting other departments and/or Managers in special projects and assignments, attending monthly meetings, team meetings, educational seminars, etc.

Job Duties:

• Sewing: Sewing of protective garments, vinyl items, and accessories. Maintaining stock levels and completing projects as assigned
• Fabrication: Layout, preparation, and fabrication of items to be sewn.
• Equipment Management: Can replace thread, needles, bobbins, adjust thread tensions, and oil machines as necessary.
• Order Support: Completion of sewing assembly work based on individual job orders
• Housekeeping: Maintains personal area as well as departmental area through good housekeeping practices as directed by Supervisors.

· Shipping & Quality Control: Inspects sewn garments and accessories to meet quality metrics before being packaged for shipment. Verify correctness of the fabric, protective media (for apparel), embroidery, and binding color. All information can be found on the Job Order Ticket including custom assembly instructions. Ensure all paper work is properly completed and signed off on.

• Company Policies: Is knowledgeable regarding general company policies, documentation requirements, and inventory procedures

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and dexterity necessary to operate various sewing machines. Subject to long periods of sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform essential functions, as well as the ability to navigate stairs. Working conditions are primarily inside a climate controlled warehouse environment which includes large manufacturing equipment and working closely with others.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $22.00 per hour
